Starting today, we’re going to be showcasing some of the new art that’s coming in for Numenera over on numenera.com. The first piece is from Kieran Yanner. Check back tomorrow and thereafter for future sneak peeks from our other great artists!

  1. I really like the colors. Definitely different tone from what I have seen before for an RPG.

  2. Let me just say that I’m not offended, but curious.

Are the monsters/statues with gratuitous naked boobs necessary?

I’m OK with it, I am just curious about whether this is just these two particular pieces or will characters and other assets be more “busty” in Numenera?

They kind of stick out from the rest of the art because, well, naked boobs.

We’re all adults, but I’m hoping there are good game reasons for the art.

Like: we better put boobs on that because its so weird and it’s really important that that monster/character be female. And gender cannot be defined by the sound of her voice because she speaks in screams. :)

Or was it just the artist saying… hmm, needs 6 silicone-boobs.

And again, the art is really really good. I want to go explore the temple in the jungle… just curious if being a less American “boobs are taboo” will change the people who accept the game. (Some people are REALLY up-tight about boobs.)

So, in closing, awesome art, can’t wait for the game. What up with the boobs? :)

  3. That there are boobs didn’t even register with me until pointed out. The serpent like being with the 6 teats and the frog statute, yeah I’m not feeling boobs there….. : )

  4. Hello!

Hoping the art reflects the ultimate future features of the Human Race – according to science/geneticists/people in the know, a true amalgamation of all ethic backgrounds into one true Human Race, not diverse ethnic backgrounds, each different (like we have already). It’ll be a shame to see a future Numenera populated by mostly just Whites & a few other ethnic groups, like unfortunately, occurs in most RPGs now (altho’ this trend has been a bit reduced somewhat, in the excellent Eclipse Phase RPG, for instance).

A major point of interest/selling point for my (at least for my ethnically diverse) group indeed!

    Beauteous art, tho’. Cheers!
