Monte Cook

We made our latest stretch goal of $90,000, which means that I’ll be writing a full adventure trilogy and that many backers will get them added to their existing reward levels. Thanks to all the backers for your support!

The three, 32-page adventures will be:

The Devil’s Spine
The Mechanized Tomb
The Other Side of the Maelstrom

More details about these will come later.

I wanted to mention that the next stretch goal is something kind of special. If we reach $100,000, I will set aside 300 copies of the Numenera corebook to give out to educators and libraries for free. Please help me reach this goal. I think it would be awesome to be able to do that.

Did you like this? Feel free to share it.

  1. Mr. Cook, I just had an idea and I share it with the greatest humility. It would be REALLY cool if, when the kickstarter campaign ends, you use the exact number of backers in some way, shape or form in the world of Numenera. Iven if its mentioned a single time, for example “1,087 miles away” LOL.

Despite having contributed modestly, I think it would be a fantastic way to immortalize everyone inolved in the genesis of Numenera, even those who gave their single dollar.

    Just my 2c.

  2. @Fled – Of course everyone loves those little easter-egg type references, myself included. Its a bit exciting just to imagine the names of everyone contributing $5 or more printed in the back of the corebook – at this rate, that will be a very large list.

  3. @Xaelvaen thank you for bringing that “perk” to my attention! I totally did not see it! I’m smiling ear to ear! And yes you are right, that will be quite a comprehensive list hahah

  4. Mr. Cook, congratulations on making the $90K goal. I will be at Gen Con and would love to hear more from you there about Numenera but cannot make your panel at 2 PM on Thursday. Is there any chance there will be other opportunities to hear from you regarding Numenera this weekend?

  5. Monte, one question regarding international shipping.

Since most tiers with physical copies also get the complete PDF deal, would it be possible for those of us outside the US to just get one big package with all the books in it?

I realize you would be sending it about 3 months after the release date, but at least I would be ok with that. (I’m interested in the books mostly for my library, we’ve been playing with PDFs for years now).

Please let me know what you think of this.

Btw, congrats on the HUGE success!

  6. @xaelvaen: At this point, I think Monte might be regretting that perk. Personally, I don’t care for having my name in a list of over 1,000 others which mostly bloats the (already thick) book, but maybe other people want it.

@Otakkun: I’m assuming that is indeed how it will be done.

@Monte: Are you willing to donate a library copy to a non-US library?

  7. Well, I guess you have a point in the problems that international shipping may bring to you, so here’s a crazy idea:

Why don’t you add a pledge level for international supporters? Say

FRIEND FROM AFAR: You get the ULTIMATE EBOOK FAN rewards plus every single print book from the stretch goals in one neat package that will be sent when the last print book is released (expect a delay of X/Y months). International shipping is already waged at this level.

    Sounds good?

  8. YESSS!, Now you’ve reached the bestiary goal.

  9. Ok, I’m commenting solely because I saw the notion of setting aside copies for Libraries and Educators as probably the single most awesome thing I’ve seen in a very long time. Maybe you should raise the numbers by 10 or 25 books for each major stretch goal?

  10. Could you add a crazy stretch goal regarding online paying? Say some sort of VTT for Numenera that would work on IOS. Who knows? Maybe at 400k? 500? =)

I’m crazy for some way to play in an easy & clean way with most of my friends, considering we’re all on different cities (& countries) now.
