My Current Projects
As usual, I’m involved with a lot of projects right now. A number of them have crowdfunding campaigns going at the moment. Of course, there’s The Unbegotten Citadel, a project I’m doing for Lamentations of the Flame Princess, which I’m mentioned here recently. But in addition, I am writing a very small part of The Bestiary of the Curiously Odd from RKDN Studios, along with a lot of great authors. Also, I have a short story that will appear in Stone Skin Press’ anthology, The New Hero, and Stone Skin has launched a Kickstarter to, well, kickstart their publishing ventures. And there’s a few more things from other publishers that haven’t yet been announced.
This is probably not a bad time to let you know that I also worked on the new Marvel Comics MMO that is coming soon. My contributions were small (and I’m finished with the project now), but it’s something I’m quite proud of. And of course, speaking of stuff I’m done working on but hasn’t yet come out–although this is news to no one–I did about a year’s worth of work on the new edition of D&D that will come out, well, when it comes out.
I am also working on two projects of my own. The first is a new game from Monte Cook Games. There will be lots of info about this soon (mostly I’m waiting on art and logos and things like that), as well as a Kickstarter of my own, likely launched in August. I hope to really make this a big thing that a lot of you will find interesting. If you’re going to GenCon, Fan Expo Canada in Toronto, or DragonCon, I’ll be giving presentations about this new game. In brief, though, if you look through past blog entries on this site, you’ll get an idea of some of the directions that I’m heading in. This is not a d20 game or really very similar to one, which is why I am not publishing it under the Malhavoc Press label.
(And speaking of past blog entries, I went through and brought a bunch over from the old site yesterday, so that if you are interested in my game design thoughts at the moment, you’d have them all in one place. That’s why there are blog entries on the site that have dates that are old than this new website existed, and why they currently have no comments.)
Lastly, I am going to be publishing a collection of short fiction in ebook format that you’ll be able to read on your Kindle or iPad or whatever screen you prefer. These will all be fantasy and science fiction tales set in worlds of my own creation. One or two of those worlds might be familiar to those who have followed my work for a long time, but for the most part the stories are all new. No Kickstarter for this one, and I don’t yet have a date for it, but my editor is working on it now.
So, there’s a lot going on. Plus, I’m travelling to a lot of conventions this summer. If I had to direct you to just one thing, though, it would be the game that I’m about to announce. I haven’t been as excited about something as this in a long, long time. Probably not since Ptolus or Arcana Unearthed. I plan on pulling out all the stops and making it something really special, and despite all these other things I have going on, it’s taking up about 95% of my time and my thoughts right now. Look for a lot of exciting info and announcements by the end of July.

Hi, Monte. What about some announcements in World RPG Fest next weekend?
-
Looking forward to the new game when it’s released.
-
A new game not based on d20? Oooh. Colour me intrigued.
-
Piece of writing writing is also a excitement, if you be familiar with after that you can write if not it is difficult to write.
-
Quite a lot of projects.

Looking forward to the new material Monte, particularly the short fiction and the new game. I will be following to see where these new directions take you.

But wanna input on few general things, The website design and style is perfect, the content is rattling fantastic. “To the artist there is never anything ugly in nature.” by Franois Auguste Ren Rodin.

Sounds great, Mr. Cook. Way to go on the short fiction pieces and I’m glad to hear you’re inspired about the new game design. There’s nothing quite like that rush when designing your own game system and knowing you’re onto something.
You’re one of the best in the field of RPGs so I hope it does awesome!
Best Regards,
