Dragon Con is a celebration of gaming and geek culture. Monte and Shanna are both guests this year, and each has a fantastic (and long) lineup of appearances that you should check out!

Monte’s Event Schedule

Friday August 31st

1:00pm—The Elder Gods (Augusta 1-2 – Westin)
Description: How does one portray a supreme, malevolent being in the context of a roleplaying game? If player cannot hope to defeat or fathom such a being, is there a point to the game? Find out here in this panel!

4:00pm—Game Mastery 101 (Centennial I – Hyatt)
Description: Always a favorite, always one of our largest panels! This panel is for both starting game masters and veterans. Come find out about running, creating, and putting together your own roleplaying games from some of the industry’s greatest veterans!

5:30pm—Science Fiction Gaming (Augusta 1-2 – Westin)
Description: Table Top Gaming doesn’t end with Fantasy. Find out about the wide-ranging worlds of Science Fiction! Talk to our expert guests about creating Soft Science Fiction worlds vs. Hard Science Fiction worlds. Find out about designing worlds & characters that fit into a futuristic setting.

Saturday September 1st

11:30am—Cults, Conspiracies, & Other Craziness! (Augusta 1-2 – Westin)
Description: Find out about the crazy, the weird…& all of the things your history teacher didn’t talk about! With our two published authors who are experts on all things occult, mystical, cult-y, & conspiratorial!

4:00pm—Monte Cook Games (Augusta 1-2 – Westin)
Description: Find out what’s next from the mind of Monte Cook. What new worlds will be explored? What is the next chapter in games like The Strange, Numenera, and Invisible Sun?

8:30pm—The World & the Game (Embassy EF – Hyatt)
Description: Which comes first, the world or the game? Some games give birth to stories, & some give birth to roleplaying games. D&D gave birth to an endless world of stories, while the Dresden Files gave birth to whole new roleplaying games. Let’s look at how this happens.

Sunday September 2nd

11:30am—Help! My Game Is on Fire! (Augusta 3 – Westin)
Description: Talk to industry experts Car Talk-style about the problems in your game! Obnoxious player? No place to play? Is the party too powerful? Bring your questions to the experts!

2:30pm—Best Dungeon Ever (Centennial I – Hyatt)

Darcy Ross

Darcy L. Ross, Community Relations Coordinator for Monte Cook Games, is a storyteller, scientist, and community organizer. Across media, she aims to highlight people doing good things in the gaming community and to bring new people into gaming. She co-hosts the podcast Cypher Speak, has blogged for the award-winning Gnome Stew, and has worked to support marginalized voices in gaming with ConTessa. Darcy lives in a small but powerful aldeia of tabletop creatives in Hyde Park, Chicago.
