MCG Wants to Send You a Trick or Treat!

MCG Wants to Send You a Trick or Treat!

There are two pretty cool things happening soon: Halloween, and the release of Strange Revelations: Ten Instant Adventures for The Strange. Here’s a nifty picture of one of them:

It so happens there’s a horror-themed adventure in Strange Revelations, and that it ties in very nicely with Halloween—that other cool thing coming up soon. It also so happens that we’d really like you to try Strange Revelations, and the Instant Adventure format Monte came up with (it originally appeared in Weird Discoveries for Numenera, a few months back).

And here’s the cool bit: You can download that horror-themed Instant Adventure, entitled Game of Screams, for free right now. In fact, because it’s an Instant Adventure, you could download it now and be playing ten minutes from now. (That’s the “instant” part: There’s virtually no prep time required.) As if that’s not enough incentive, because we’re so keen for you to try it out, we’re going to sweeten the pot: If you download and run Game of Screams between now and November 1st (that is, on or before Halloween), we’ll send you a little treat. Or maybe a trick. But probably a treat.

Here’s the Scoop

OK, here’s how this works.

  • Figure out when you want to run Game of Screams. You can run it for your gaming group or friends, but it would be really awesome if you ran it at your local game shop, club, con, or any other venue that would show off the awesomeness of The Strange and the Instant Adventures format—this is a promotion, after all. But that’s not required.
  • Download the adventure. You can do this step now, or wait until the last minute. Because it’s an Instant Adventure!
  • Run the adventure. Have a great time.
  • And then report it to us no later than Monday, November 2nd. We have a short online form that asks a few questions about how your game went, and where you want your trick or treat sent.
  • We send you your trick or treat! (To be really clear, it’s gonna be a treat. And it’s not going to be anything huge—just a little token of our appreciation for taking part.)
  • (And just so you know: We want to get the word out about Strange Revelations, and the fact that it isn’t like your everyday adventure book. So we might quote you in a Facebook post or other marketing message if you say something insightful about running your game.)

The Fine Print

Since there’s a prize involved, of course there’s some fine print. Here are the details:

  • You must run Game of Screams on or before Saturday, 31 October, 2015. You can run it as a private or public game (that is, with a group of your friends at home, or for a bunch of strangers at a game store, con, club, or similar venue).
  • You can download Game of Screams here; it’s included in the free preview for Strange Revelations.
  • You must fill out and submit the report form by midnight CDT Monday, 2 November, 2015 (don’t worry; it’s short). We may quote your responses in marketing or other public communications.
  • We’ll send your trick or treat in early November.

That’s it! Play The Strange. Get a free adventure. Try out Strange Revelations and learn how you can play a pick-up RPG with no more prep than a typical board game. And get a treat!

Happy Halloween!
